The long Martin Luther King weekend kicked off on Friday night at Great Mills High School with a county rivalry game with Chopticon visiting Great Mills. The home Hornets (7-3) were not hospitable after a close loss last Wednesday night to La Plata and beat the Braves 72-37.

Coach Peck from Great Mills said before the game that his team, โ€œneeded to come out playing the fast paced game that we are known for.โ€ Chopticon was able to stay close for one quarter finishing the first quarter only down by four points 15-11 with DJ Blackwell (9 points) leading the charge.

The Hornets speed and depth took over in the second quarter as Mo Queen(11 points) was dialing up from long distance hitting three, three pointers. As the Braves came out to start the third quarter down 32-19 Coach Terry Mumauโ€™s frustration was starting to show.

Mumau finally exploded with 4:23 remaining in the quarter and was ejected from the game after two consecutive technical fouls.

Great Mills had very balanced scoring and was led by Papa Johnโ€™s Player of the Game Davonte Jordanโ€™s 11 points. Brandon Teston added 11 points, Kammaron Barker had nine and DeAndre Berry had 8 points as every player played for the Hornets.
