The Southern Maryland Blue Crabs took on the Lancaster Barnstormers in the second game of their final road series of the 2013 Atlantic League Regular Season,ย Saturdayย night at Clipper Magazine Stadium in Lancaster, Pa. After falling in the first game of the seriesย Fridayย night, the Blue Crabs called upon right-handed pitcher, Gaby Hernandez, who has put together a very solid second-half of the season. The Barnstormers countered with a righty of their own in Jeff Bennett, who was making just his second start of the season. Blue Crabs newest addition, Ian Gac, and All-Star outfielder, Sean Smith, powered the Crabs attack to a 7-2 victory over the โ€˜stormers.

As they have done just about all season, the Crabs offense got on the board early on. After 3B Nick Schwaner walked with two outs, DH Ian Gac, homered in his first at-bat as a Blue Crab. Gac would finish with three RBIs on the evening in his first time suiting up for Southern Maryland. Left fielder, Sean Smith, did it all in the win as he finished 2-for-3 with a double, stolen base, 3 RBIs, a run, and a solo homerun in the fifth inning.

The seven runs were more than enough for pitcher, Gaby Hernandez, as he kept the Barnstormers bats at bay throughout most of the night with eight strikeouts. The only hiccup came in the fourth inning as three straight hits with two outs tallied two runs for the โ€˜stormers. That would prove to be the only runs that the Barnstormers could muster as Hernandez and two relievers shut the door on any potential rally to cruise to the 7-2 victory.
