Bridgewater, NJ — After a one sided ballgame Friday night, the Patriots just squeaked by the Blue Crabs by the final of 4-3 in game two of the three game series.

Southern Maryland scored first in the top of the second.  Jake Opitz would score on a Jamar Walton RBI Groundout.  Somerset would tie the game in the bottom of the fifth.  Nate Spears scored on a James Skeleton sacrifice fly to tie it at 1-1.

In the top of the seventh, the Blue Crabs would retake the lead on a Craig Maddox RBI double scoring Anthony Vega to make it 2-1.  In the bottom of the seventh, Somerset would take the lead for the first time in the game.  Robert Andino would lead things off with a single, and two batters later Greg Hopkins would drive a homer over the wall to make it 3-2.

Southern Maryland tied the game in the top of the eighth on a Zach Wilson solo homerun to make 3-3.  In the bottom of the eighth though, Somerset would retake the lead.  After Cody Eppley retired the first two hitters, Nate Spears lashed a double to left center, and Greg Hopkins, who homered earlier in the night, singled to score Nate to make it 4-3.  Jon Hunton would set the Blue Crabs down in the top of the ninth to give the Patriots the victory.

Greg Hopkins went 3-4 with three runs driven in, while Zach Wilson homered, and Craig Maddox went 2-4 with an RBI.  Both starting pitchers did not factor in the decision.

Game three of the series tomorrow evening at 5:05 P.M.  LHP Brian Burres (3-6, 4.93) will start for Southern Maryland, and LHP Matt Zielinski (6-1, 2.43) will throw for Somerset.
