Deputy State Fire Marshals are searching for the person responsible for setting a fire at the rear of the K-Mart store. Theย May 24,ย 4:20 p.m. fire at the Fox Run Shopping Center at 835 Solomon Island Road caused an approximate $1,000 damage to the rear wall of the commercial building.
Investigators have determined a bale of cardboard boxes was intentionally set on fire. The store was open for business but no evacuation of patrons was necessary.
Deputy State Fire Marshals are seeking the publics help in identifying the person or persons responsible for this fire. Anyone with information is urged to call the โMaryland Arson Hotlineโ at 1-800-492-7529 or the Southern Region Office at (443) 550-6820.
At approximately 4:30 p.m., on Sunday, May 24, the Prince Frederick Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Squadย had a report of smoke showing behind K-Mart at the Fox Run Shopping Center.
Along with Prince Frederick responding on the call were Huntingtown and St. Leonard Volunteer Fire Departments.
Once Prince Frederick arrived on the scene, they found a large fire in the compressed packaging behind the K-Mart store.ย There was also another fire found behind the Dollar Store.
Fire equipment from Prince Frederick VFD handled the fire behind K-Mart with St. Leonard VFD to assist.ย The Huntingtown VFD handled the fire behind Dollar Store.
