(Annapolis, MD) – No injuries were reported by the pilot of a small aircraft after he made an emergency landing in Annapolis, MD earlier today.
The pilot is identified as Christopher Curry, 32, of Odenton, MD. He and his two minor sons were the occupants of the aircraft. There were no injuries sustained in the crash and no one was transported. The model of the white aircraft involved is a Socata TB200 registered to Tipton Tampico LLC.
Shortly after 3:00 p.m. today, Maryland State Police at the Annapolis Barrack were dispatched to the report of an aircraft crash on the ramp from MD E/B Rt. 50 to MD Rt. 665. The aircraft was on its wheels rested against the guardrail.
The preliminary investigation indicates upon returning to Tipton Airfield in Fort Mead, MD, Curry started to lose RPMs for reasons unknown at this time and noticed smoke coming from the engine compartment. Curry made an emergency landing on the ramp from MD E/B Rt. 50 to MD Rt. 665. During the emergency landing the aircraft stuck a light pole and a guardrail.
State Police notified officials from the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board.
The Maryland State Police will not speculate on the cause of the crash. The cause of the crash will be investigated and determined by federal authorities.
Anne Arundel County, MD – Various Washington, DC news outlets have reported the crash of a plane near the Prince George’s County-Anne Arundel County line Friday shortly before 4 p.m.
The location of the crash is Interstate 97 southbound and Route 50 eastbound. There is a small airport located nearby. At this time, three people, one male adult and two juveniles, are being treated on the scene for what appear at this time, to be minor injuries. Several responders are on the scene.
