At 9:26 p.m. Aug. 6, Charles County Sheriff’s officers responded to the 4200 block of Hawthorne Road in Indian Head for the report of a suspicious person.
Investigation revealed Roy Dennis Tolson, 28, of Waldorf had been standing in the middle of the road attempting to flag vehicles down.
When a 28-year-old woman was parking her car in her driveway, Tolson entered the vehicle, advised he was a federal agent and was seizing her car, and attempted to take control of the vehicle.
The victim’s husband came outside and extracted Tolson from the vehicle and Tolson then assaulted him. Officers arrived on the scene and took Tolson into custody.
He was charged with attempted carjacking, impersonating a police officer, second-degree assault and the unlawful taking of a motor vehicle. He was being held at the Charles County Detention Center pending an appearance before a district court commissioner. No one was injured.
