MECHANICSVILLE, Md. — Earlier this evening, firefighters were called to the scene of a reported structure on fire in Mechanicsville.

At approximately 8:15 p.m. on January 12, first responders were alerted to the 27100 block of Budds Creek Road, in the area of Knotts Lane, for a reported barn on fire that was threatening several farm animals.

The caller at the time indicated that the flames were clearly visible and were threatening the structure of the barn, along with two pigs and two rabbits on the property.

Upon arrival, crews discovered a bulldozer that was located inside of the barn that was believed to be the origin source of the fire. Reports indicated that the fire specifically started in the engine compartment of the vehicle.

Crews worked quickly to extinguish the flames before it spread to other nearby structures on the property, stopping the spread in a matter of minutes.

No people or animals were reportedly harmed as a result of the fire.

This is a developing story. We will continue to provide additional details as they become available.
