WALDORF, MD โ Blue Crabs starting pitcher Brian Burres picked up his fifth win on Friday night and his 100th win of his baseball career and fired six dazzling innings in a 5-2 win over York Revolution at a packed house at Regency Furniture Stadium.ย Burres showed off striking out eight batters, and allowing just one earned run.
Yorkโs Travis Witherspoon started off the game with a solo home run on the third pitch he saw from Burres in the top of the first inning to get an early lead for the Revolution.
However, in the bottom of the first, Blue Crabsโ Angel Sanchez raced home after Yorkโs first baseman Andres Perez let the ball skip by him for a two-base error.ย Dโarby Myers also came home on that error and the Blue Crabs took the lead 2-1.
The hits kept coming for the Blue Crabs in the fourth when Angel Flores singled to left, Jon Dziomba singled to right and Myers kept up his six-game hitting streak after hitting an RBI double to cash in two runs by Flores and Dziomba.
Blue Crabs tacked on an insurance run in the sixth inning as Flores doubled to left field, Eric Garcia moved him up with a sac bunt, and Dziomba hit a sac fly to bring in Flores to open up a four-run lead against the Revs.
York tried to rally in the ninth inning scoring another run after Alfredo Marte walked and then scored on Josh Wilsonโs RBI double. Witherspoon hit a single to left field and the tying run was on third base but Blue Crabs Justin Berg was able close out the win working his way out of a jam and the Blue Crabs tied the four-game series at one a piece.
