
LEONARDTOWN, Md. — A Callaway man was held without bond after deputies said he tried to get into a garage in Leonardtown and stole a blue frisbee from a neighboring home.
James Rudolf Price, 38, of Callaway, was charged with attempted fourth-degree burglary of a dwelling and theft under $100 following the May 27, 2026, incident.
A St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office deputy responded around 6:57 p.m. to the area of Camalier Drive in Leonardtown for a suspicious incident.
Charging documents state deputies were canvassing the area for a man matching a description provided by a homeowner. The homeowner reported seeing the man in front of her garage door and believed he had attempted to use the garage keypad to access the garage but was unsuccessful.
A second resident reported seeing the same man using a swing in her front yard before walking onto her front porch and taking a blue frisbee valued at about $5, according to charging documents.
Deputies later located a man matching the description walking along the roadway near Library Place. When deputies tried to contact him, he allegedly ran, leading to a brief foot chase that ended when he stopped in front of a fence in the yard of a Library Place residence.
The man was identified as Price, according to charging documents.
Price was arrested and transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention and Rehabilitation Center.
Court records show an arrest warrant was issued May 23 by Judge Brett Crocheron and served the same day. Price was initially held without bond and remained held without bond after a May 29 bail review before Judge James Tanavage.
A status hearing is set for June 10 in St. Mary’s County District Court. A trial is set for July 6 in St. Mary’s County District Court.
