Over 150 Calvert businessmen and women attended the Calvert County Chamber of Commerceโ€™s Annual Meeting and Awards Dinner on Oct. 16, at the Holiday Inn Select in Solomons.ย  One of the Chamberโ€™s most important functions, the annual meeting and awards dinner is an occasion when the Chamber can recognize businesses for their excellence.

Alexander Chiropractic Center was awarded the Small Business of the Year Award, with Dr. Daniel W. Alexander accepting.ย  The Small Business of the Year Award is designed to recognize a small business in Calvert County that exemplifies high standards of ethics and business enterprise within the county.

Alexander Chiropractor Center is a steadfast supporter of the Chamber. There is always someone from their staff in attendance at Chamber functions, they constantly donate door prizes, they offer member to member discounts, they participate in the mini-expo, and theyโ€™ve hosted several business after hours.

In addition to supporting the business community they provide support in many different ways to many different associations ranging from youth organizations to the Humane Society, to Red Cross and support for Katrina victims, to youth and the elderly.ย  One activity in which they take particular pride is Kidโ€™s Day America, an event theyโ€™ve heldย  every year for the past nine years.ย  Itโ€™s a day dedicated to childrenโ€™s health, safety, and environmental awareness for which theyโ€™ve received a proclamation from the Governor of the Sate of Maryland.

Starting his practice was no easy task for Dr. Daniel Alexander.ย ย  He couldnโ€™t find any financial institutions that were willing to give him a loan, and he was turned down by three banks.ย  With the help of family and friends, with a student loan to pay off and no positive income flow, with a belief in God and a dream, he opened his business in April of 2000.ย  Eight and a half years later, he has a successful, flourishing practice.

The business philosophy of Alexander Chiropractic Center is to treat others as they would wish to be treated, to give the highest quality of care regardless of their financial status, and to give it with love, respect and selflessness.
