Calvert board of education seeks citizen advisory committee members

The Calvert County Board of Education is accepting applications for its 2013-2014 Citizen Advisory Committee. Twenty-five members are appointed annually.

The committee meets from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. on the fourth Monday of each month during the school year.  It conducts studies in areas of concern to the Board of Education, provides community insight into pending policies and Board decisions, and discusses a variety of issues affecting school system operations.

Applicants must be residents of Calvert County and may not be full or part time employees of the school system. The Board appoints members through a process that ensures diverse representation; at least four citizens from each high school district will be appointed. 

The Board will begin appointing members in August 2013.
