PRINCE FREDERICK, Md. — There’s good news for anyone searching for a seasonal or summer job in Calvert County — people are hiring.
Both Calvert County Parks and Recreation and the Town of North Beach announced seasonal job openings in recent weeks. Parks and Recreation has seasonal openings for summer positions, including lifeguards, swim coaches, maintenance workers, camp counselors, beach park rangers and more.
Most of the seasonal jobs have a starting hourly rate of about $16.42 — some of the positions are rolling throughout the summer and others have deadlines as soon as April 8, so potential employees should check job listings as soon as possible to apply for the position they want. Job seekers should also make sure to check the specific requirements of each job before applying, as some may have age restrictions, need a minimum hourly commitment or require workers to be physically capable of lifting a certain weight.
The Town of North Beach is specifically looking for summer employees to work as beach patrol, town attendants and team leads. North Beach specifies that all applicants must be at least 16 years of age, as well as dependable, motivated and able to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
The town’s application deadline is April 10, and one who is interested needs to fill out this application and email it to info@northbeachmd.gov by the deadline.
A summer job can help teens develop important skills to prepare them for college or the workforce. These jobs have long helped young people learn financial responsibility, gain new skills and learn how to work on a team. They might even make some good friends along the way.
