The Calvert County Board of County Commissioners awarded S E Davis Construction, LLC, a $9.5 million contract for the demolition and construction of the Prince Frederick Volunteer Fire Department (Company 2). This new state-of-the-art facility will enhance Company 2’s ability to provide life-saving services to county residents.

A previous BOCC prioritized the building for replacement as the result of a Fiscal Year 2012 study of county fire and rescue facilities. The existing 1960s facility has undergone renovations and additions since it was built, but the age and size of the building, changes in the size and number of apparatus and future requirements made the building a top priority for complete reconstruction.

The new facility will boast several new features designed to enhance firefighter health and safety. The building will also incorporate improved technology to aid call response, energy efficient lighting and HVAC and more bunkrooms for firefighters.

Company 2 will operate from the Prince Frederick Armory during demolition and construction. The new facility is scheduled for completion by January 2021.
