On Friday, October 28, 2011, the Calvert County Public Safety Department held a mockup crash demonstration for the students of Calvert High School, with the help of the Prince Frederick Rescue Squad (Co.2), Prince Frederick Ambulance (Co.4), Calvert Sheriff Department and the students from theCalvertย  High School Drama Club as part of the individuals involved in the crash.

The purpose behind this demonstration is to show the student what could happen when such an accident happens, what the fire/rescue crews have to go through, the EMS action in treating the injuries at the scene and the police/sheriffโ€™s handling at the scene. It is hoped that by seeing this demonstration it will make them think twice or more before they do anything that might put them in the same situation.ย  In most all these demonstrations, the focus is on drinking and driving and the results from that action.

The driver was arrested for drunk driving, one person was pronounced deceased at the scene, and two others were transported to the hospital.

As you will see from the videos and the pictures, this is being explained to the students by the sheriff officer as to his action with the driver as well as others involved or nearby to get what might have happened.ย ย  Also, Kim Jones with the Public Safety office of Calvert County explains the action being taken by fire service.ย  Because of the outside environment and surrounding noise, some of the verbal from sheriffโ€™s officer are not clear.

You will see how others get so emotionally upset of what has happened to their friends and trying to keep those individuals calm and controlled so the fire department and sheriffโ€™s department can do their job.
