During the week of October 28 – November 3, 2019 deputies of the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office responded to 1,501 calls for service throughout the community.
Damaged Property: 19-63746
On November 2, 2019 Corporal McCarroll responded to Old Bayside Road in Chesapeake Beach for the report of damaged property. The complainant advised that on two different occasions between October 23rd and November 2nd, an unknown suspect(s) has driven a vehicle into their yard and done donuts. The value of damaged property is $500.
On October 28, 2019 Deputy Childress responded to Aralia Avenue in St. Leonard for the report of a theft. The complainant advised sometime between October 7th and October 14th an unknown suspect(s) stole the rear registration plate from their vehicle. The value of stolen property is $5.
On October 29, 2019 Deputy Sturdivant responded to Bayberry Crossing in Owings for the report of a theft. The complainants advised that around 1:00am on October 29th, an unknown suspect(s) entered each of their vehicles and stole money from inside. The total value of stolen property is $850.
On October 30, 2019 Deputy Aurich responded to the marina on Gordon Stinnett Avenue in Chesapeake Beach for the report of a theft. The complainant advised sometime on October 29th, an unknown suspect(s) stole the registration plate from their boat trailer parked at the marina. The value of stolen property is $20.
On November 1, 2019 Deputy Gott responded to Sneades Ace Hardware in Lusby, for the report of a theft that occurred at Sneades Ace Hardware in Owings. The complainant advised that sometime between 8:30am on October 31st and 8:30am on November 1st and unknown suspect(s) stole the rear license plate from their vehicle while it was parked at the Owings location. The value of stolen property is $50.
On November 2, 2019 Deputy Wood met with a complainant in the lobby of the Sheriff’s Office for a report of a theft that took place at the Tavern in St. Leonard. The complainant advised that sometime between 5:30pm on November 1st and 1:00am on November 2nd an unknown suspect(s) stole their Maryland license as well as two credit cards from their purse. The value of stolen property is $60.
On October 28, 2019 Deputy Savick conducted a traffic stop at Southern Maryland Boulevard and Kerry Anne Lane in Dunkirk. While approaching the vehicle, Deputy Savick detected a strong odor of marijuana emitting from the vehicle. The driver, Ashley Dean Cathro (30), advised she did have marijuana in the vehicle and a search was conducted which revealed a large mason jar containing marijuana as well as a plastic bag containing (20) orange Adderall pills for which Cathro did not have a prescription. Cathro was placed under arrest and transported to the Calvert County Detention Center where she was charged with CDS: Possession- Not Marijuana.
On October 29, 2019 deputies observed a drug transaction from a vehicle in Prince Frederick. Deputies conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle where they found Paul Douglas Rhodes Jr. (39) to be in possession of suspected crack cocaine and CDS paraphernalia. Rhodes was placed under arrest and transported to the Calvert County Detention Center where he was charged with CDS: Possession-Not Marijuana and CDS: Possession of Paraphernalia.
On October 31, 2019 Deputy Bowlan responded to Rod N’ Reel in Chesapeake Beach to assist with a disorderly subject. Upon arrival, Deputy Bowlan observed Crystal Kay Sweeney (37), yelling at Deputy Parks from inside her vehicle. While approaching the vehicle, Sweeney put the vehicle in reverse, almost striking the vehicle behind her. Deputies asked Sweeney to put the vehicle in park and step outside. Sweeney refused, and was removed from the vehicle by Deputies who attempted to detain her while she continued to resist. Once detained, Deputies conducted a search of Sweeney’s vehicle which resulted in an orange prescription bottle containing a clear vial of suspected PCP, and 8 pink pills. Sweeney was transported to the Calvert County Detention Center where she was charged with Disorderly Conduct, Resisting/ Interfering with Arrest, and CDS: Possession- Not Marijuana.
