During the week of September 29 through October 5 deputies of the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office responded to 1,290 calls for service throughout the community. 

Citizens with information on the following crimes or any criminal activity in Calvert County who wish to report it anonymously can now access the Calvert County Crime Solvers link through the Sheriff’s Office website.  

Go to http://www.co.cal.md.us/residents/safety/law/sheriff/ and click on the Crime Solvers link to leave an anonymous tip on-line.  Information leading to the arrest and conviction of a suspect could result in a $1,000 reward.

Theft Case #14-55022:

Someone stole the contents of a package that had been delivered to a mailbox at the end of the driveway of a home on Secret Court in Lusby sometime between September 27 and 29.  The box had been opened and left on the ground underneath the mailbox.  Dep. D. Naughton is investigating the theft of two school books. 

Theft Case #14-55032:

Three packages that had been delivered to a mailbox on Walsh Lane in Lusby were stolen on September 29.  Dep. W. Durner is investigating.

Attempted Burglary Case #14-55132:

A homeowner on Gunsmoke Trail in Lusby advised DFC R. Wilson that they heard a noise on September 30 at 2:27 a.m. coming from the bedroom window.  After looking outside they observed a vehicle driving slowly away from their home.  Nothing was taken and entry into the home was not made.  The investigation is continuing.

Destruction of Property Case #14-55243:

A victim on Herring Way in St. Leonard advised Dep. T. Holt that sometime between 11:45 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. on September 30, someone damaged his vehicle by breaking a taillight and then opening the trunk.  Nothing was taken. 

Disorderly Intoxication Case #14-55842:

On October 3 at 4:45 p.m. DFC J. Denton responded to the area of Main Street at Duke Street in Prince Frederick for the report of an intoxicated person stumbling in the roadway.  This was the second call for service for this subject.  Contact was made with the subject, identified as Steven James Hartle, 49, of Prince Frederick, who appeared to be intoxicated and was walking in the roadway causing motorists to swerve into oncoming lanes to avoid hitting him.  He was charged with intoxication and endangering the safety of the citizens of Calvert County.


Burglary Case #14-55847:

Unknown suspect(s) burglarized a home in the 900 block of Josh Way in St. Leonard on October 3 between 5:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. and stole jewelry.  DFC J. Bell is investigating.

Burglary Case #14-55862:

A home in the 5800 block of Valley Drive in St. Leonard was broken into on October 3 during the daytime hours.  Nothing was taken but damage is estimated at $2,000.  Dep. L. Kelly is continuing the investigation.

Burglary Case #14-55926:

Moe’s Southwest Grill in Lusby is the scene of a burglary that occurred on October 4 at 4:23 a.m.  The culprit(s) used a heavy object to break the front door, gaining access to the restaurant.  No currency was stolen.  DFC R. Wilson is actively investigating this case.

Burglary Case #14-55928:

A home in the 4800 block of Breezy Point Road in Chesapeake Beach was burglarized on October 3 between 11:00 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.  Nothing was stolen but an unknown amount of damage was done to several doorways.  Dep. A. Curtin is investigating.

Burglary Case #14-56005:

A woman in the 3500 block of Hunting Creek Road in Huntingtown advised DFC P. Aurich that she heard a noise in the downstairs portion of her home on October 4 at 5:50 p.m.   When she went down to investigate, she heard a door close and saw some of her cabinet doors were open.  Nothing appears to have been taken.  The investigation is continuing.

Attempted Burglary Case #14-56119:

The victim of a home in the 1500 block of Overlook Drive in St. Leonard advised DFC J. Bell that between October 4 and 5 it appeared that someone tried to gain entry to the home by damaging a window screen and a door.  Nothing was taken and it does not appear that entry to the home was made.  The investigation continues.

Theft Case #14-56126:

Two bicycles, a turquoise colored ladies Huffy cruiser and a white Pacific girls chromium mountain bike were stolen from the yard of a home on Overlook Drive in St. Leonard overnight between October 4 and 5.  DFC J. Bell is investigating.

Burglary Case #14-56194:

A yellow Polaris Generator worth $2,000 was stolen from inside a garage that was burglarized between October 3 and 5.  Dep. L. Kelly is investigating the offense that occurred at a home in the 1400 block of Flag Harbor Boulevard in St. Leonard.
