
During the week of December 14 – December 20 deputies of the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office responded to 949 calls for service throughout the community.
Burglary: 20-64102
On December 15, 2020, Deputy J. Ward responded to Cavalier Drive, Dunkirk, Maryland for a theft complaint. The complainant advised sometime between November 29th and December 15th an unknown suspect(s) stole various tools from their shed. The stolen tools were a DeWalt impact wrench, DeWalt 3/8 inch air ratchet, DeWalt 30 gallon compressor, and a Gorilla 50 foot air hose (green). The estimated value of the stolen property is $627.
Burglary: 20-64521
On December 18, 2020, Deputy E. Payne responded to West Chesapeake Beach Road, Dunkirk, Maryland for a theft complaint. The complainant advised between 12:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. on December 18th an unknown suspect(s) forced entry into his locked shed. The complainant advised two black and burgundy end tables and a black and burgundy coffee table were missing. The estimated value of the stolen property is $355.
Theft: 2020-64574
On December 19, 2020, Deputy Kwitowski responded to Sycamore Road, Lusby, Maryland for a theft from vehicle complaint. The complainant advised sometime between December 18th 10 p.m. and December 19th 4:00 a.m. they noticed the seat in their vehicle to have been laid back and items in the vehicle to have been rummaged through. The complainant also advised there was money missing from the console. The value of the stolen property is $180.
Arrests:

Henry Austin James, 21
On December 18, 2020, Deputy T. Buckler responded to Sea Breeze Court, North Beach, Maryland, for a burglary complaint.
Upon his arrival, he made contact with the resident who advised they heard a loud noise outside the residence and woke up to investigate. At that time, nothing seemed out of the ordinary.
In the morning, the complainant noticed their window mounted AC unit was outside on the ground near a drain spout. The complainant also noticed a box fan moved from the floor to the couch.
During the investigation, muddy marks were located that led up the siding of the residence and outside of the window where the AC unit should have been. In addition, an insurance card was located outside on the ground near the AC window unit. It was determined that a firearm had been stolen from the residence as well.
The firearm was located and returned to the homeowner.
The investigation led to a subject who was identified as Henry Austin James (21). James was placed under arrest, transported to the Calvert County Detention Center and charged with BURGLARY-FIRST DEGREE, MAL DESTR PROP VALUE $1,000+, THEFT: $100 TO UNDER $1,500, BURGLARY- 4TH DEGREE-DWELL, TRESPASS-POSTED PROPERTY.

Joseph Charles DePaola JR., 58
On December 19, 2020, Deputy Cress was patrolling in the area of Windward Key Subdivision in Chesapeake Beach, Maryland where he observed a male walking along the road pushing a Roland’s shopping cart.
Deputy Cress approached the subject and asked him to return the cart to the property of Roland’s. At this time, the subject turned around, began pushing the cart, and started hitting the cart against the railing of the bridge causing damage to the cart.
Once the subject returned to Roland’s, Deputy Cress tried to speak with him about the events that had occurred.
After a brief struggle the Subject identified as Joseph Charles DePaola JR. (58) was placed under arrest and transported to the Calvert County Detention Center where he was charged with THEFT LESS THAN $100.00, MAL DEST PROP/VALU < $1,000, RESIST/INTERFERE WITH ARREST.
