Jenny and Glenn Scott of California with their newborn son, Douglas Glenn.

Prince Frederick, MD โ€“ Glenn and Jenny Scott of California knew their first child would be a boy. They also knew their son would be delivered by Caesarian section at Calvert Memorial Hospital (CMH) in Prince Frederick, since Jennyโ€™s obstetrician, Dr. Hilary W. Ginter, has her practice on the CMH campus. The couple was anticipating their sonโ€™s arrival sometime after the start of the new year.

โ€œWe had a C-section scheduled for the fifth,โ€ said Jenny.

Thatโ€™s when the unexpected happened. On New Yearโ€™s Day Jenny went into labor. On Jan. 1, 2015 at 12:44 p.m., Douglas Glenn Scott arrived, CMHโ€™s first birth of the new year. The new boy weighs 7 pounds, 2 ounces.

โ€œIt was all very efficient,โ€ said Jenny of the birth experience.

Both Glenn and Jenny work at Patuxent Naval Air Station, Glenn with a contractor and Jenny for Civil Service. The couple has been married two years. Jenny grew up in Southern Maryland while Glenn is a North Carolina native.

When The Bay Net got a glimpse of CMHโ€™s first 2015 we asked paternal grandmother Lea Scott what kind of plans she has for her new grandson. โ€œBig ones,โ€ she said. โ€œHeโ€™s going to be a weatherman.โ€

Jenny said she has planned for a 12-week maternity leave. She and Baby Douglas Glenn will likely be heading home to St. Maryโ€™s County on Sunday.

After Jenny announced the plan, Douglas Glenn Scott, age one day, let out a loud shriek of approval.

Congratulations Jenny and Glenn and Happy New Year!
