PRINCE FREDERICK, Md. — Calvert County has announced a public hearing on June 16 at 10:30 a.m. to discuss the Maryland Community Development Block Grant Program.
According to a press release from the county, the Maryland Community Development Block Grant Program is for funds awarded through the federal Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security Act. Calvert County received funds in the past and had the opportunity to apply for additional funds in 2025, resulting in additional funding of $88,568. These funds are intended to be used for homeless and food programs and facilities.
During the hearing, staff will provide information on the progress of CV 1.2 COVID Amendment, which was part of the program, and the future of the grant. This is a second public hearing, and officials will provide updates on the status of funding the projects related to the program:
- Ladies of Charity Calvert County Food Pantry: CDBG funds were used to assist with the purchase of a commercial walk-in refrigerator/freezer.
- Project ECHO: CDBG funds were used to purchase appliances, security equipment and shelter supplies.
- 85 Main Street Homeless Day Program & Emergency Shelter: CDBG funds were used to purchase appliances and shelter supplies.
The hearing will take place at 150 Main St., Prince Frederick. Residents can view the proposal online and submit written comments by the close of business day June 15.
