CALVERT COUNTY, Md. – To keep traffic flowing prior to and after the fireworks celebration, the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office will implement a special traffic plan on Friday, July 3, 2026, in North Beach and Chesapeake Beach.
BEGINNING MIDDAY, traffic patterns will be implemented to create a safe and orderly arrival and departure from the beach. All of Bay Avenue will be closed to incoming vehicles once parking is full.
• All left-hand turns will be prohibited along a portion of HWY 261
• No U-turns – the centerline will be blocked with delineation devices
• Drivers will be directed to use specific routes to enter and exit the beach
• Bay Ave. will be closed to all vehicle traffic between 3rd and 5th St. in North Beach
• Most roads will remain open as usual until parking is full
• Public and private parking lots are highly encouraged to avoid citations or towing
• Carpooling encouraged
