WALDORF, Md. — A Waldorf man was ordered held without bond after police reported cocaine, suspected distribution materials and ammunition were found during a search warrant at a Waldorf residence.
Deandre Marcus Smith, 30, of Waldorf, was charged with possession with intent to distribute narcotics, possession of a controlled dangerous substance other than cannabis, possession of narcotics production equipment and illegal possession of ammunition.
The charges stem from a June 26, 2026, search warrant served at a residence in the 9600 block of Daffodil Place in Waldorf.
Charging documents state the Prince George’s County Police Department, with assistance from the Charles County Sheriff’s Office, executed an arrest and search warrant at approximately 5:40 a.m. Family members exited the residence and told officers Smith was still inside, but may not have been able to hear commands because he was in the basement.
An Emergency Services Team made contact with Smith at the basement door, where he was detained, court documents state.
During the search, police reported finding ammunition in a bedroom where Smith’s Social Security card was located. Investigators reported recovering nine loose rounds of .357 SIG ammunition and a box of .40-caliber HST ammunition containing 30 rounds from a bedroom closet accessible to Smith.
Court documents state Smith was prohibited from possessing ammunition in Maryland because of prior felony convictions, including narcotics production equipment in 2018 and possession with intent to distribute narcotics in 2017.
Investigators also reported finding 10 blue and white capsules in the basement kitchen. Charging documents state the capsules had the imprint “S489” and were labeled as 40 mg. Police reported a test of white powder inside the capsules showed a positive result for cocaine hydrochloride.
Police reported the individually packaged capsules were consistent with possession of cocaine for distribution rather than personal use.
During the search, investigators also located two glass measuring cups and a metal fork with suspected controlled dangerous substance residue, court documents state. Tests on the items produced positive results for cocaine base.
Charging documents state investigators also found an open box of baking soda and a used box cutter with visible white residue. Police reported those items are commonly used in the manufacture and packaging of crack cocaine.
Four digital scales were found in the kitchen, according to charging documents. Police reported the scales had suspected residue, and a substance from one of the scales tested positive for cocaine hydrochloride.
Investigators also reported finding new and unused glassine baggies, which police described as packaging material commonly used in drug distribution.
Court documents state police found Smith’s Social Security card and $300 in U.S. currency in a bedroom. The money was recovered in multiple denominations.
Smith was initially ordered held without bond June 26. Court records show he remained held without bond after a June 29 bail review hearing before Judge Robert B. Riddle in Charles County District Court.
A preliminary hearing is set for July 24 in Charles County District Court.
The most serious charges carry maximum penalties of up to 20 years in prison and/or a $15,000 fine.
