A Sunderland woman has been reportedly released from the hospital after she survived her car plunging off the Chesapeake Bay Bridge. The accident involving the car driven by Morgan Lake, another car and a tractor-trailer sent Lake’s car plunging into eight feet of water.
Lake. 22, was able to escape the car and swim to pilings around the bridge. A passing boater saw the accident and stayed with Lake Emergency responders arrived and transported her by boat and then helicopter to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center, where she was initially listed in critical condition with non-life-threatening injuries.
The accident that occurred at 8:25 Friday evening temporary.ly closed the eastbound lanes. Neither the driver of the other car nor the tractor-trailer driver was injured.
