
UPDATE – As of 4:15 p.m., Point Lookout Road has been reopened.
GREAT MILLS, Md. — A vehicle overturned at a busy Great Mills intersection Tuesday afternoon, prompting a swift emergency response and temporary traffic delays.
First responders were dispatched around 2:08 p.m., May 20, 2025, to the intersection of Point Lookout Road and Great Mills Road for a reported serious single-vehicle crash. Crews arrived to find the vehicle on its roof, but no entrapment was found.

EMS evaluated the driver and requested a MEDEVAC. The patient was transported by ambulance to the St. Mary’s County Regional Airport to meet with Maryland State Police Trooper 2 at the hangar. Shortly after, the patient was airlifted to UM Capital Region Medical Center for treatment.
Motorists were advised to use caution in the area as crews worked to clear the scene and restore normal traffic flow.
