During the Thursday rush hour Jan. 8, about 4:35 p.m., police and rescue units responded to for a call that originally went out as two cars racing on Medley’s Neck Roadย in Leonardtown.

Police and fire arrived on the scene to find a single vehicle- a charcoal gray Mazda sports sedan on its sideย which split a SMECO utility pole in half. Theย single occupant of the vehicle was a juvenile, he was able to get out of the car without out injury. The driver signed a refusal for treatment.

A witness described as a local resident claims, “They race up and down this road everyday about this time.” As the witness talked about the racing, he was not specificallyย  referring to the individual involved in the accident, he was talking about people in general.

The accident remains under investigation.
