RIDGE, Md. — The Carnival is just a thing to do around the Southern Maryland community. They knew the Carnival was in town when the Ferris Wheel was spotted looming over Route 5 the last two weekends.
The Ridge Volunteer Fire Department wrapped up the last weekend of their 21st annual Carnival on Sunday. This year’s event was hosted from Aug. 4 through 8, and Aug. 11 through 14.ย
Plenty of rides were available for the enjoyment of the young and the young at heart, including the Ferris Wheel, a Tilt-a-Whirl, and a ride called โCrazy Dance,โ comparable to the spinning teacup ride at Disney World.

Typical carnival food was available for purchase such as hamburgers, hot dogs, pizza, ice cream, funnel cakes and more. Crab cakes and other local fare were also available.
There were plenty of games to play, where participants could throw, aim and slide tokens into fishbowls and more as they played for live fish, plush and inflatable animals and others goods.

A boat raffle was held during the event, with George Franklin as the winner. ย Three bikes each for boys and girls were raffled off every evening during the seven night event.ย
