Charles County, MD — Charles County will be offering free breakfast to Charles County Public School students during the first week of school, September 3-6.
Breakfast will include milk, cereal, juice, and fruit with an additional option of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for high school students.
Some elementary schools may not serve breakfast on the first day of school due to late arrivals and classroom transitions. High school students’ breakfast won’t include a la carte items.
CCPS will offer free breakfasts again in January when kids return from winter break.
“We want students to come back to school ready to not only begin a new school year, but to practice healthy eating habits. Kids need energy and nourishment to focus in class. We are committed to helping our students learn about healthy eating habits and making breakfast part of their daily routine,” Superintendent of Schools Kimberly Hill said.
