Cedar Lane Apartments will be hosting an Open House in Leonardtown, on Sunday, Nov. 9, from noon until 3 p.m.
Apartment tours, refreshments and guest speaker Debbie Barker from the Department of Aging will be included in the activities. Cedar Lane Apartments provides senior living to the elderly and disabled community of St. Mary’s County and beyond. Cedar Lane Apartments began as St. Mary’s Home for the Elderly in 1977 with 129 units in which seniors and the disabled could find affordable, independent living. Over the course of 31 years, two additional apartment buildings were added and services expanded to include support services, congregate housing and assisted living. Two of the three buildings offer HUD subsidized housing which affords low-income seniors and the disabled an option in today’s housing market.
With onsite dining room, chapel, beauty salon, gift shop and many other amenities, residents are able to enjoy a healthy, active lifestyle. Today, the 208 unit apartment complex with a staff of sixty is led by Executive Director Beverly Stickles who has been in the elder care industry for over 20 years.
