LA PLATA, Md. — The Town of La Plata will once again turn its Town Hall grounds into a hub of music, movement and community spirit as “Celebrate La Plata!” returns Saturday, April 25, 2026, from noon to 4 p.m. at 305 Queen Anne St.

What began as a festival to mark the town’s rebuilding after the devastating 2002 tornado has grown into a signature spring tradition, bringing residents together each year to celebrate how far the community has come. More than two decades later, that spirit of resilience remains at the heart of the event.

This year, the celebration adds a new layer of energy with the introduction of a community Dance-A-Thon, inviting businesses, teams, groups, seniors, couples and individuals to take part in a four-hour open-air dance experience in the center of town.

Special Events Coordinator Lucinda Anderson is helping shape that experience, bringing in new activities each year to keep the event feeling fresh while building on the traditions residents have come to expect. From interactive additions like the Dance-A-Thon to expanded hands-on activities, the focus remains on creating something for everyone.

Throughout the afternoon, attendees can explore a wide range of attractions, including live music from Liquid A and a dance DJ with DJ CY6, along with children’s crafts, food vendors, shopping and inflatable activities. Community groups will also be on-site, including Rumble Ball Athletics, which plans to offer interactive bubble ball activities for attendees looking for a more active experience.

Organizers describe the event as a free, family-friendly day designed to bring people together, whether they are longtime residents or visiting for the first time.

The celebration takes place at Town Hall, 305 Queen Anne St., La Plata, Md., with updates and event details available on the Town of La Plata’s website and Facebook page.
