WALDORF, Md. โ A dependent of a military retiree who currently resides in Waldorf, Maryland, has presumably tested positive for the novel coronavirus(COVID-19) according to a Joint Base Andrews news release. The dependent, who had recently travelled to the Philippines and South Korea, is currently being quarantined at home.
On Mar. 11, the man was exhibiting โcold-like symptomsโ that led him to seek care at Andrews’ Malcolm Grow Clinic. The test results have revealed he is presumptively positive, meaning that while the test results appear positive, the Center for Disease Control and Prevention has yet to officially confirm the case. It is unclear at this time what the age of the tested person was.
โWe are focused on the health of our base personnel and their families,โ Col. Andrew Purath, the commander of the 11th Wing and Joint Base Andrews, said in the press release. โWe will continue to mitigate the effects and potential spread of COVID-19 in coordination with our community and interagency partners.โ
Further, Joint Base Andrews says they will continue to provide installation personnel and their families with updated information to prevent the potential spread of the virus.
At this time, there is no impact to Joint Base Andrews mission or operations.
