The old saying that haste makes waste doesnโ€™t apply to the lucky Waldorf man who just claimed the $50,000 top prize in the Bonus Match 5 game.

The Charles County resident visited Kellers Market in Prince Georgeโ€™s County Saturday afternoon, July 16 and bought a Bonus Match 5 ticket for that nightโ€™s drawing. The 64-year-old says he visited that particular retailer because he was in a hurry and the store is close to where he lives. He also didnโ€™t spend any time selecting numbers because he keeps a completed playslip in his car.

The lucky winner doesnโ€™t gamble or check results of his Lottery games on Sundays. Because of that practice, he didnโ€™t know that he had a winning ticket until Monday.

โ€œBonus Match 5 is my favorite game because I like the odds,โ€ he said. This is his second top-prize Bonus Match 5 win. He last won the $50,000 prize in 2008 and has enjoyed smaller wins over the years. When he shared his good news with his wife of 38 years, he said she was hardly surprised. She replied, โ€œAgain?โ€ when told the July 16 drawing delivered the top prize.

The part-time real estate agent does not have any special plans yet for his winnings.

Kellers Market located at 15624 Livingston Road in Accokeek also benefits from selling the top-prize winning ticket in the game. The lucky retailer will receive a $500 bonus from the Lottery.
