Two Flee in Honda Civic: On Sept. 13 at 2:23 a.m., Officer J. Freeman was stopped at a traffic light on Crain Highway in Waldorf when he noticed the steering column on the vehicle next to his was covered by a T-shirt. Believing the vehicle could be stolen, Officer Freeman attempted to conduct a traffic stop near VFW Road in Waldorf. The vehicle, a Honda Civic occupied by two males, did not stop and fled northbound on Crain Highway into Prince George’s County, where officers ended their pursuit. The driver is described as a black male in his teens or early 20s and has long braided hair. The passenger is identified only as a black male. The Civic is a late 90s model and had Virginia tags. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact the Charles County Sheriff’s Office at 301-932-7777. Officer Freeman is investigating.

17 Year Old Causes Five Car Crash:

On Sept. 12 at 1:15 p.m., a 2003 Ford van driven by a 17-year-old La Plata boy was traveling south in the 8200 block of Leonardtown Road in Hughesville when it struck a 2004 Chevrolet Cavalier driven by Barbara Louise Tidd, 46, of North Beach, who was stopped in the southbound lane. The Cavalier then struck a 2004 Buick Rendevous driven by Kenneth Webb Cross, 63, of La Plata, which was stopped in the southbound lane attempting to make a left turn. The Cavalier then struck a 2004 Ford truck driven by William David Schnaubelt, 32, of Brandywine and a 1994 Ford Escort driven by Matthew Donley Farr, 22, of Avenue. Tidd sustained incapacitating injuries and was flown to Prince George’s General Hospital by a United States Park Police helicopter. There were no other injuries and no passengers in any of the vehicles. The boy was charged with failure to control speed to avoid a collision. Officer D. Walker investigated.
