LA PLATA, Md. — Charles County officials are advancing efforts in workforce development, fiscal responsibility, and public engagement. During the March 4 commissioners’ meeting, leaders from the County Administration, Department of Human Resources, Department of Fiscal and Administrative Services, and Department of Emergency Services presented the Commissioners’ Goals and Objectives, focusing on Goal 2: Institutional Governance and Policy.

County leaders highlighted efforts to recruit and retain top talent, invest in employee training, and enhance community services. Officials emphasized their commitment to a well-equipped workforce, noting expanded job fairs and new apprenticeship programs.

In a win for taxpayers, the county retained its AAA bond rating for the eighth consecutive year and approved record funding for the Board of Education and Sheriff’s Office without raising taxes.

The county will introduce a new customer relationship management system, “See.Click.Report,” in spring 2025. This system will allow residents to easily report concerns and complaints within the community. It will undergo beta testing before its official launch.

Additionally, a hybrid meeting space is being developed at the Centennial Street building in partnership with the Department of Public Works and the Department of Recreation, Parks, and Tourism. This modernized space will accommodate both in-person and virtual participation, with completion expected in spring 2025. While live meetings will not be aired, recordings will be shared across all county communication channels.

Looking ahead, officials plan to expand cybersecurity protections and regularly review and update policies and procedures to ensure their adequacy and relevance.
