STEVENSVILLE, MD – Chesapeake Charities will host an evening of magic and dancing on Saturday, February 16, 2019 at The Chesapeake Bay Beach Club in Stevensville, Maryland. The main event includes the world champion illusionist and magician, Wayne Alan, who will perform illusions and close-up magic in the round. The show will be followed by a live auction of Navy Special Forces candidates who will serve as dance partners for the evening.

This Valentine’s Day-themed party is a fundraiser for Chesapeake Charities and the more than 92 charities who are part of the Chesapeake Charities family, including Animal Welfare League, Cancer Comfort Angels, Governor Larry Hogan Scholarship, Julianne Rosella Memorial, Partnering for Youth, Not My Child, and Team Chesapeake.

“Chesapeake Charities operates with less than 5% administrative overhead,” said Linda Kohler, Executive Director, “compared to 25% for most non-profits. In order to provide the quality services we offer, including grant writing and strategic planning, we had to come up with a clever way to fund our operations.” Linda performed in a magical review at the Circle Theatre in Annapolis in the late 1980s with magician Wayne Alan and she encouraged her long-time friend to bring his world-renowned magic show to Stevensville for the evening.

“I also thought we needed to encourage some of the charities we support to participate, and the men who are in training with Warriors of Tomorrow, a program that prepares Naval special forces candidates for advanced training, seemed like an ideal choice to serve as dance partners,” said Kohler.

With support from the business community and its Board of Directors, Chesapeake Charities has been given valuable auction items, including an exquisite pear-shaped 1.54 cwt. diamond ring which will be on display and raffled off during the event.

To keep the romantic spirit alive throughout the evening, there will be an open beer and wine bar, Eastern Shore oysters, hot hors-d’oeuvres, a cheesecake bar, and heart-shaped truffles.

Tickets for a “Night of Magic and Romance” are available for $150.00 per person and can be purchased online at or by contacting the office at (410) 643-4020, or by email at Raffle tickets for the pear-shaped diamond ring are on sale for $50.00 each and can be purchased on the website as well.
