The Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS) Cold Case Unit and the St. Mary’s County Bureau of Criminal Investigations (BCI) Cold Case Unit are requesting support from the public for any information regarding the 1985 murder of Vincent Paul Caciola.

Vincent Caciola (known by his friends as “Vince”) was reported missing on August 14, 1985 by his wife, Kimberly Rene Caciolaย  (now Ms. Kimberly Grubbs).ย  She reportedly left her husband at their residence located on Iris Drive in California, Maryland (St. Mary’s County) in the late evening hours of the 14th to retrieve items from her office on Naval Air Station (NAS) Patuxent River, Maryland. Upon returning home around midnight she reported her two small children were sleeping alone upstairs and Vincent was missing. Additionally it was reported that personal effects belonging to Vincent, to include a motorcycle helmet, brown leather boots, gold rimmed prescription glasses, a denim jacket and a tan velcro wallet, could not be located.

On August 16, 1985 Vincent’s body was discovered adjacent to a dirt road in a small wooded area leading to Fisherman’s Point, located on NAS Patuxent River.ย  The death was ruled a homicide.ย  It was determined Vincent Caciola had been drugged, strangled, and his body placed on the air station.ย  The investigation determined Vincent Caciola was reportedly murdered during roughly the same timeframe in which his wife Kimberly last saw him alive.
