UPDATE
Coltons Point, MD – No injuries were reported Thursday morning, Dec. 22 after a fire heavily damaged a house in St. Mary’s County, state investigators reported. According to the Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office, the blaze on Windy Lane in Coltons Point was discovered and reported at approximately 5:24 a.m.
“The occupant was alerted to the fire after hearing some sounds coming from outside and then discovered the deck on fire,” the investigating deputy fire marshal reported. “The family was able to escape without injuries, which includes children at the ages of 2, 4, 6 and 10 years old. Everyone was displaced as a result of the fire and they are being assisted by the American Red Cross.”
An earlier report from authorities that no one was in the house when the fire started proved to be erroneous.
Forty volunteer firefighters responded to the one-alarm blaze and brought the flames under control in 30 minutes. Damage to the two-story, wood-framed, single-family dwelling is estimated at $165,000.

Coltons Point, MD – Shortly before 5 a.m. Thursday morning, Dec. 22, St. Mary’s County authorities dispatched crews to a house fire on Windy Lane in Coltons Point. No injuries were reported as a result of the fire which remains under investigation.
Reports from the scene indicated that the family that lives at the residence was not home when the fire occurred. Authorities reported the two adults and four children are being assisted by the Red Cross.
