Comverge formally recognized the Charles County Board of Education for their successful energy demand response efforts on Tuesday.ย They presented the school district with a $145,708 check for its successful efforts. ย The school district has earned over $153,000 during its participation in the SMECO sponsored demand response program.
SMECOโs CoolSentry program, which all three Southern Maryland counties participate in, encourages saving energy during the high demand summer months.ย Several schools and administrative buildings participated, including: Mary B. Neal Elementary School, John Hanson Middle School, Henry E. Lackey High School, Mattawoman Middle School, Thomas Stone High School, Theodore G. Davis Middle School, Benjamin Stoddert Middle School, Westlake High School, William A. Diggs Elementary School, Jesse L. Starkey Administration Building, North Point High School, Maurice J. McDonough High School and La Plata High School.
During the high demand summer months, power consumption is kept to a minimum at those Charles County Public School facilities.
