On Feb. 19 units from the Calvert County Sheriffโ€™s Office responded to the Bank of America, 2995 Plaza Drive, Dunkirk for an ATM alarm. Upon arrival officers observed an unidentified suspect operating a backhoe. The backhoe was carrying a large metal box in the bucket.

The suspect jumped from the backhoe and fled on foot from the scene. Patrol officers gave chase and released their K-9โ€™s on the suspect. After a struggle with officers, the suspect was handcuffed. The suspect was identified as Jonathan James Reid, a 43-year-old African American male from Prince Frederick.

The metal box on the backhoe was the ATM which had been stolen from the Bank of America. Reid was transported to Calvert Memorial Hospital and treated for minor injuries to his left shoulder.

Reid was released from Calvert Memorial Hospital and transported to the Sheriffโ€™s office where he was interrogated by Calvert Investigative Team investigators.

Reid was charged with Theft over $500 and Malicious Destruction of Property over $5000. Reid is currently being held at the Calvert County Detention Center on $85,000 bond.
