St. Maryโs Commissioners unveiled a โPreserve Americaโ Sign Wednesday at the entrance to Summerseat Sanctuary, recognizing the site for its dedication to conservation of agriculture.
Summerseat is a non-profit farm and agriculture preservation site that is locally known for its herd of American bison.
The event was held outside the manor house on the farm during a St. Maryโs Chamber of Commerce business after-hours event.

Commissioners Dan Raley, Kenny Dement and Larry Jarboe were on hand to represent the county and present a โPreserve Americaโ sign, which was placed at the foot of the driveway off Rt. 235. Officials posed for pictures and ripped the plastic off the new sign.
Many guest missed the unveiling as they were occupied with mingling up at the manor house.
Several candidates for local office were among the crowd, including Jarboeโs competition for his county commissioner seat Joe St. Clair, sitting Orphan Court Judge Russ Cullins, Sheriff David Zylak and commissioner president candidates Merl Evans and Mike Hewitt.
Numerous chamber of commerce members attended as well, including ambassadors Jason Thompson from Bayshore Telephone Systems and Wendy Heidrich from Three Notch Theater.
