Charles County Government is partnering with National Research Center, Inc. to conduct the National Citizen Surveyโ„ข (NCSโ„ข). The survey centers on community livability and includes questions about the quality of life in the community, local policies, demographics, rating of local government services, and resident use of services.

The NCSโ„ข is designed to provide a baseline of how Charles County Government is serving residents, to better gauge perceptions of the county, and to make comparisons with peer local government agencies.

โ€œThe mission of Charles County Government is to provide our residents the highest quality service possible,โ€ said Commissioner President Peter F. Murphy. โ€œThe National Citizen Survey will help us to identify what we are doing well, and how we can continue to improve our service to the community.โ€

โ€œIt is important for county governments to benchmark successes and programs with their residents. By participating in the National Citizen Survey, our county is continuing to strive towards a more effective and efficient government,โ€ said County Administrator Michael D. Mallinoff.

A random and scientific sample of 1,500 households will receive invitations by mail to participate in the NCSโ„ข. Residents are encouraged to look for a postcard invitation in the coming weeks. Responses are confidential.

Residents who do not receive invitations will have the opportunity to participate at a later date via online portal. When the link for the online survey is available, information will be provided on the Charles County Government website at www.CharlesCountyMD.gov.

About the National Citizen Survey:
The National Citizen Surveyโ„ข (The NCSโ„ข) was among the first scientific surveys developed to gather resident opinion on a range of community issues, and has been used in more than 350 jurisdictions across 46 states. The NCSโ„ข is a high-quality cost-effective scientific survey of resident opinion and an important benchmarking tool that allows for comparison among communities. Communities using The NCSโ„ข have reported that the tool helped improve performance, strengthen communications with community stakeholders, and identify clear priorities for use in goal and budget setting.
