PRINCE FREDERICK, Md. — Calvert’s Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) approved moving $147,500 to a new capital project fund at the March 24 meeting to complete the ongoing renovations to the Courthouse Square Building, located at 205 Main St., Prince Frederick.
The county holds a five-year lease on the Courthouse Square building. Prior to October 2025, the building housed the Department of Planning & Zoning, which then moved to the new County Administration Building at 150 Main St. The plan is for the Department of Parks & Recreation to move into Courthouse Square.
According to a memo submitted by Director of Public Works John Cosgrove, the Department of Finance and Budget recommended that the county create a new capital project and move the requested amount from an older capital project fund (CIP-000001) to this new capital project fund (CIP-000496).
Officials said that this additional funding will complete the project and allow the Parks & Recreation staff to move into the office space.
Parks & Recreation Director Bob Branham said at the meeting that this would bring the Parks & Recreation staff fully under one roof for the first time ever. It also puts them in walking distance from county staff who work at 150 Main St.
County offices began moving into the building at 150 Main St. in October 2025. Staff was fully moved in by January 2026.
