
***The Maryland Department of Health has information that is not current with what St. Mary’s and Calvert County Health Department officials are reporting. At this time, both Calvert and St. Mary’s County is showing 144 positive cases.***
LEXINGTON PARK, Md. โ As of Sunday morning at roughly 10 a.m., the Maryland Department of Health(MDH) is confirming a total of 18,581 cases of the novel coronavirus(COVID-19) across the state of Maryland, while there are going to be more results that are presumably still waiting to be confirmed.
This new total means there are 815 newly confirmed cases in the past 24 hours.

Of the confirmed cases, over 3,962 people have ever been hospitalized, and 202 of those were recorded in the past day.
1,177 previously infected people have been released from their isolation according to MDH, 12 of which have been recorded in the past day.
30 people in the state have died from COVID-19 in the last 24 hours, bringing the stateโs death toll unfortunately up to 827. This follows yesterday being the deadliest day for the coronavirus where 74 lives were reported lost.
Negative test results also grew, with at least 6,727 negative confirmations in the past day, bring that total to 78,084. With expanded testing capabilities from Governor Larry Hogan[R], this is the largest spike in negative tests to date.ย
At this time, there are at least 792 officially confirmed cases in the Southern Maryland region. Charles County saw their previously confirmed total of 483 cases rise to 504. In Calvert County, cases are now being counted on a rolling basis, which brings their total up to 144.
St. Maryโs County also counts cases on a rolling basis now, and records from the county show a total of 144 cases as of 10:30 a.m. Additionally, St. Mary’s is now reporting it’s sixth death in the county. We do not have any details about this individual at this time, but will provide an update when we receive new information.

A majority of the positive cases across the state are still found in Montgomery County and Prince George’s County. PG County still has the most cases of any county in the state, with an overnight increase of at least 192 cases bringing the total to 4,987.
Since yesterday, Montgomery County saw an increase of at least 162 newly recorded cases, bringing their total to at least 3,645.
Anne Arundel County has also confirmed 80 new cases in the last 24 hours, bringing their official total to 1,510.
On April 25, the total number of confirmed cases by the Maryland Department of Health was at least 17,766. As of April 26, that recorded number is at least 18,602, showing over a 4.7% increase across the state in the past 24 hours.
