WALDORF, Md. — Two Waldorf residents have been arrested and charged following an extensive Maryland State Police investigation into the Heaven Bound Crematory in Charles County.

Rosa Iyonna Williams, 48, and Brandon Angelo Williams, 50, both of Waldorf, are each charged with eight counts of unauthorized disposal of a body in violation of Maryland General Health Article §5-514.

The investigation began on February 10, 2025, after the Charles County Office of the State’s Attorney requested a criminal review of Heaven Bound Crematory in White Plains following regulatory inspection violations.

On February 20, 2025, Maryland State Police investigators executed search warrants at the crematory’s business location and at the Williams’ residence in Bensville. During the search of the residence, investigators recovered business records, documents, cremated human remains, and multiple decomposing human bodies located inside a garage.

Authorities reported discovering more than 200 suspected cremated remains stored at the residence. In addition, several decomposing bodies were located in various stages of decomposition. Some remains were contained inside biohazard bags, and investigators noted the presence of bodily fluids and strong odors in the garage area.

Among the remains recovered were fetal remains and the body of a deceased infant. Court documents indicate that in some instances, families had previously received remains they believed had been properly cremated. Investigators later determined that certain bodies had not been cremated as represented.

All recovered remains were transported to the Maryland Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for forensic examination. Cremated remains were cataloged and transferred to the Maryland State Anatomy Board for proper disposition.

Family members impacted by the investigation have publicly expressed grief and frustration in media interviews and online statements, describing the discovery as devastating and traumatic. Some families have filed civil lawsuits related to the crematory’s operations.

Arrest warrants were issued on February 19, 2026. Rosa and Brandon Williams were taken into custody without incident on February 20, 2026, and each was released after posting a $20,000 unsecured personal bond.

A trial for both defendants is scheduled for April 7, 2026, in Charles District Court.

The investigation remains ongoing.
