STRUCTURE FIRE IN MARYLAND

CHAPTICO, Md. — Firefighters are battling an active residential structure fire in the 38000 block of Manor Road in Chaptico.

The fire was reported around 9:45 a.m. Monday, Aug. 24, 2026.

Multiple callers reported flames coming from the residence, including from the living room and rear of the home.

Chief 5 arrived and reported a two-story split-foyer residence with smoke showing.

A 360-degree assessment found fire showing from the rear of the home. Crews reported the fire was showing on the first floor and spreading into the attic.

Dispatch information indicated two people live at the residence and both were outside. A neighbor reportedly helped get the residents out before firefighters arrived.

Several engines, tankers and additional fire units responded, with crews establishing a water supply from a nearby pond.

No injuries have been reported at this time.

This is an active scene, and additional details will be provided as they become available.
