UPDATE: Man Charged After Setting His Home; Parents Vehicle On Fire

MECHANICSVILLE, Md. — Firefighters from multiple departments battled an intense house fire early Monday, June 23, 2025, in the 27000 block of Morganza Turner Road, where flames tore through the first floor and roof of a single-family home. Despite initial concerns, no injuries were reported.

The fire was reported just after 1 a.m., prompting a mutual aid response from surrounding jurisdictions, including Leonardtown. Crews arrived to find heavy fire engulfing the first level and extending through the roof, with early reports suggesting a possible occupant was unaccounted for.

Conditions inside the home quickly deteriorated, forcing firefighters to transition to a defensive strategy. Efforts to attack the blaze from within were halted due to structural instability. It wasn’t until the bulk of the fire was knocked down that crews could safely resume operations closer to the structure.

The missing occupant was later found unharmed outside the residence, according to officials at the scene.

Firefighters remained on site for over two hours, extinguishing hot spots and conducting overhaul operations to ensure the fire was fully out. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
