The Sutter Post Farm Clydesdales were available for up close and personal throughout the fair and put on a demonstration Saturday night
Leonardtown, MD — With near-perfect weather on Saturday the crowds took advantage to flock to the fairgrounds for the third day of the 68th Annual St. Maryโs County Fair. Saturday, as usual, was Parade Day and the parade was the highlight but by all means not all to do at the fair.
The parade included high school bands, antique cars, trucks, tractors and fire engines, a lot of politicians running for office and a number of commercial floats. MCโs Henry Fowler, Jr. and Bill Mattingly kept things flowing. The parade began with the National Anthem from the Leonardtown High School Potomac Voices.
Later in the day the grandstands were packed for the Suttler Post Farm Clydesdale demonstration followed by the Heavy-Weight Horse Pull while on the other side of the fairgrounds the annual 4-H Livestock auction was going on at the show ring.
Carnival attractions were packed all day as were the pig races and all of the exhibit and commercial buildings.
The gallery that accompanies this story contains in addition to photos from the parade and exhibit buildings, the jousting tournament, livestock auction, Super Magic Man Reggie Rice, the Clydesdale demonstration and the horse pull.
The fair concludes on Sunday with family Day that includes gospel music, the Southern Maryland Barbershop Chorus and Country Cruisers, the Daughters of Veda and all of the usual carnival rides and fair food and drink.ย The exhibit buildings close at 6 and the fair at 7.
