WALDORF, Md. — A Washington, D.C., man is facing charges in Charles County after allegedly failing to return a rented vehicle earlier this year, according to court documents.
Myron Thomas, 36, of Washington, D.C., has been charged with failure to return a rented vehicle stemming from an incident reported on Jan. 19, 2026.
Charging documents state that Thomas rented a 2025 Mazda CX-5 from an Avis Budget Group location on Leonardtown Road in Waldorf under a rental agreement but did not return the vehicle at the end of the agreed rental period.
According to the application for charges, multiple attempts were made to contact Thomas using the phone number provided at the time of the rental. Those attempts included calls on several dates in late January and early February 2026, but were unsuccessful. A demand letter was also sent in an effort to recover the vehicle, however it was returned to the sender due to an insufficient address.
Further documentation indicates the vehicle was described as a black 2025 Mazda CX-5, valued at more than $20,000, and had not been returned as of the filing of charges.
A summons was issued for Thomas on March 19, 2026.
A preliminary inquiry hearing is scheduled for May 4, 2026, in Charles District Court.
