After almost a year and a half, a portion of the Chancellorโ€™s Run Activity Center will reopen on June 30th. The center, which housed the Loffler Senior Center, has been closed since a massive snow storm caused the roof to collapse on February 10, 2010.

The actual area under the collapsed roof will take a little bit longer to get ready, according to Director of Public Works and Transportation George Erichsen That section should be ready for occupancy on August 8th.
Erichsen gave the timetable to the county commissioners on Tuesday. During the briefing the commissioners approved a budget amendment to allow for transfer of $96,324 to the reconstruction fund to complete the project. โ€œWe can finally put this to bed so to speak,โ€ Erichsen said.
Erichsen said the roof, aging HVAC system and windows are being replaced and interior work, including painting is being completed.
Loffler Senior Center was relocated to rented space in SAYSF Church on Rue Purchase Road in Lexington Park. According to St. Maryโ€™s County Office on Aging Director Lori Jennings-Harris, the transition from the rented space back to Chancellorโ€™s Run will begin once the building is ready, probably during the month of July. Once the move is completed, the temporary facility will be closed, she said.
