At 5:57 pm on Jan. 12, Charles County Sheriff’s Juvenile Intervention Officer J. Vaino was traveling east on Marshall Corner Road near Pomfret Road when a deer attempted to cross the road and struck the driver’s side of her cruiser, breaking the window.
Officer Vaino was transporting a Juvenile Probation Officer and a juvenile detainee to Cheltenham Youth Facility at the time of the crash. Officer Vaino and the Probation Officer sustained minor injuries and were transported by ambulance to Civista Medical Center, where they were treated and released.
The juvenile was not injured and another officer transported the juvenile to the Cheltenham Youth Facility. Sgt. C. Rye investigated.
