CHARLOTTE HALL, Md. – More information has been released regarding an early morning vehicle theft in California, Maryland, which led to a high-speed chase and multi-vehicle collision.
On May 20, 2024, at approximately 1:52 AM, Deputy First Class Schell responded to a motor vehicle theft on Lizson Court. The victim reported her 2015 Acura MDX, with distinct markings including a “Rookie Driver” sticker, was reportedly stolen around 1:16 AM. The victim’s daughter, who heard the noise, discovered the vehicle missing.
According to court documents, the investigation revealed the victim had dropped her keys, including the vehicle’s keys, outside her residence two days earlier. The stolen vehicle was later spotted by the victim near Three Notch Road and Patuxent Beach Road. She contacted the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office, which led to a lookout for the vehicle.
Deputy Senatore observed the stolen vehicle traveling northbound on Three Notch Road. A pursuit ensued, reaching speeds over 110 MPH, and ended near Golden Beach Road with the vehicle overturning several times after colliding with multiple vehicles.
Three individuals were removed from the vehicle, including Cordell Marquis Green, 22 years of age, who was identified via a photograph from the Maryland Motor Vehicle Administration. Two other suspects were detained, ages 15 and 16.
As a result of the collision, several occupants of the other involved vehicles were transported to local hospitals for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
Green has been charged with theft of $25,000 to under $100,000, motor vehicle/unlawful taking, and reckless endangerment.
On Tuesday, May 21st, 2024, Judge Karen Christy Holt released Green on his own recognizance. A trial is set for June 25th at the St. Mary’s District Court at 9 a.m.
The investigation is ongoing. Further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.

What does it take in this county to held on a bond? He allegedly stole a car, high speed chase putting many lives at risk, had a violent crash leading to others being injured and almost killed. I guess the only thing missing is a death? The criminals get out of jail before the police can finish the paperwork. Judges take notice before more innocent people are harmed by criminals out on PR. Maybe more judges need to be held accountable for their decisions.
Judges that are not liberals.
Absolutely! The individual that releases these criminals should share future time for their crimes while released. And they should remain locked up while police are searching for them after they skip bail or miss court dates.
This is what you get with a State’s Attorney like Jaymi Sterling.
It wasn’t the states attorney. All they can do is argue their case and recommend bond. Ultimately, it’s the judges decision.

ARE YOU KIDDING ME?
That’s exactly why they keep committing crimes they are letting them go was just a slap on the wrist
With all the evidence he gets he gets PR? When they’re people with no evidence being held no bond this county is going wild
He’s probably already in another stolen vehicle with juveniles and heading to another state as we speak. He should’ve been held without bail.
Agree, Why was he released?
How is someone who engages in a high speed pursuit not a flight risk. Things like this is why crime is going up. This dude needs to be taken off the streets.
This woman, Judge Holt, is a simple “administrative” judge, and not a judge that oversees criminal proceedings. Since her’s is an appointed position, maybe it’s time for people to protest for her removal from the bench?
So he’s got 2 juveniles in the car with him, damages multiple vehicles, creates a huge EMS, Fire, and Police response, all of whom rush to the scene with lights and sirens, endangering themselves and the public, multiple patients transported to local hospitals, and our liberal leaning judge releases him OR? What is the jail too crowded? Is the area “ over policed” as our governor puts it.
WTH? Why do law abiding taxpayers in St. Mary’s county have to put up with this? It’s just plain wrong.
That’s because the “Jail” is Corrections and Rehabilitation System down here in St. Mary’s. I’m pretty sure if I were to have committed this crime, my butt would be sent to State Prison waiting for my court date there and no ROR.
This is an example of revolving door justice, plain and simple. This has got to be demoralizing to the law enforcement folks who lay it on the line night and day and then have these criminals sent home without even a slap on the wrist.
This subject will never show up for court. Should have been held in confinement until trial.
What is wrong with the judges in Maryland? This woman gave this very dangerous criminal a release on his own recognizance. Catch and Release this is not a fishing expedition. This is the reason why there are so many repeat offenders of very serious crimes.
@HowdaHell
Preach!!!
And his grandmother will tell you he’s an honor roll student, goes to church twice a week, sing in the choir & does volunteer work . . .
Absolutely insane!!! All these charges are felonies but he walks free to possibly harm others yet again. 110 mph..in a stolen vehicle to harm innocent people and he just is released like nothing!?!? I am very shocked at the judges decision. I guess if it was her car or her family that was injured due to this scums senseless acts, it may have been a different outcome.
Good job judge he’s probably already halfway across the country.
