Tracys Landing, MD – Firefighters from two counties responded to an afternoon boat fire at a marina in South Anne Arundel County Wednesday, Nov. 2, investigators reported. According to the Anne Arundel County Fire Department, crews responded to the Herrington Harbor North Marina around 2:40 p.m.
“First arriving units found a boat in the marina, tied to the dock, fully involved,” stated Jonathan Riffe, a member of the Dunkirk Volunteer Fire Department (Company 5) in Calvert County.
Anne Arundel investigators described the vessel as a 30-foot Searay. “The operator reported smoke coming from the engine compartment prior to the fire breaking out,” a department press release stated. “The fire was brought under control within 15 minutes of arrival.
The cause of the fire is a mechanical malfunction and damage is estimated at approximately $50,000. There were no injuries.”
